Homeowner’s insurance is important for any homeowner. Any experienced homeowner will tell you that at some point, something will go wrong. A pipe will burst, a tree will fall, things will be stolen, etc. There is no such thing at the perfect home. Practically speaking, no home is indestructible and no home is completely safe from robbery or burglary.
Problems are bound to arise, and all homeowners, both young and old, should know this going forward. Your home is usually your most valuable asset, so why not do everything you can to protect it? But for those unforeseeable problems and unintentional accidents, homeowner’s insurance is just the form of protection that can help return a home to its previous glory.
But there are some parts of the country where weather or location dictates the probability of natural disasters and some regions simply have more of them than others which often directly affect the home:
Pacific Northwest- A lot of rain can be a huge problem and can lead to things like flooded basements and overloaded rain gutters. Now home isurance does not cover flooding, but it does cover many other consequences of heavy rainfall. One of these very serious consequences is mudslides which can do very serious damage or even completely ruin a home. The more rain, the higher chances of mudslides and the higher the chances for damage to a home.
Southern California- Down there they have a few natural disaster problems. First of all, they have the Santa Ana winds. Nicknames “California’s evil wind,” the Santa Ana’s are a hot wind that blows through Southern California reaching temperatures up to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with guts reaching 115 miles per hour. These winds alone can cause major damage to a house by knocking over things can cause serious problems. The other natural problem Southern California has is brush fires. With very little rain and generally dry conditions, brush fires start easily and spread easily. And with the help of California’s evil wind, they can do a lot of damage to many houses.
Northern States- This one is pretty obvious. North means cold weather and often times snow. Although snow can be beautiful, it can also be highly inconvenient and cause many problems. For example, snow collects on tree branches, the tree branches get heavy and start to sag and eventually fall on the house and make a hole in the roof. Roofing is difficult and expensive work, and homeowner’s insurance could simplify the process of fixing it.
Homeowner’s insurance is an investment worth making. Your home is usually your most expensive purchase, so if you are willing to spend so much money to buy it, it is worth spending a little bit of money earlier to protect it rather than a lot of money later to repair it, especially when getting a homeowner’s insurance quote is so quick and easy.
